"L" Is For Lazy Days...

Back in class with Jenny Matlock for Alphabe-Thursday (summer school isn't bad at all!) This week the letter is "L." And that means Lazy Days for me...The gardens are basically on their own now...watering when no rain arrives, weeds are kept at bay and harvests are Lazy now...only fresh green onions and Lettuces are producing. Everything else is still very much in its early growing stages. This is the quiet time of summer - when an hour or so can be spent on the deck with some stitching or a book and a tall glass of Lemonade - rare moments but something to be treasured.

When day time temperatures grow too warm (anything above 76!) there is always the sewing room to retreat to. This is a photo of all the Barbara Brackman Civil War blocks that have been completed so far.
We are well over half way through this project and before the next go round, these blocks had to be removed from my design wall to make room for the new ones and other projects. And these two are the latest - #'s 26 and 27.

I will have to think about sashing for this project and what will look best with all the chocolate browns and blues to make sure they are happy together.

Are you enjoying Luscious fresh strawberries? This is berry time in Wisconsin and something to be savored as long as the brief season lasts.
I will wrap up this "L" posting for now...have to get ready to join my quilt history study group for Lunch...we are the "Liberty Ladies."

If you get a chance, please visit my 2 previous posts also - where we visited the Leigh-Yawkey Woodson Museum. Wishing each of you a Lazy weekend with time to wander over by Miss Jenny's Alphabe-Thursday and visit all the other "L" postings.

Lazily lingering,
Pat

  8. Big fan of quilts and don't have the talent or patience to make one of my own. :) Love strawberries too, but our local berries come in May. I hope to learn more about your quilting process, so I am following you now!

  10. Your Civil war blocks are coming along just beautiful and I love the blues and browns. Wish I had some strawberries - they look lucious and we can only set them from California now. Stay cool and enjoy the journey of summer. Judy C in NC

  14. These days are wonderful, we can finally enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Have you tried to dip a strawberry into a nice glass of fizzy wine? Gorgeous on a hot summer's day outside.

  16. Yes, that's just how a summer should be. Our strawberries didn't do well this year but the cucumbers have turned out ok.

  20. Your days sound less than lazy :o) I LOVE your quilts and this one especially. Oh, how I would love to live near and have more free time for quilting! Do you have the patterns for these blocks from a book? I'd love to do one of these quilts. I remember going to the strawberry patches by my parent's home with our kids and eating more than what seemed to be filling our buckets! haha ...this seemed to also happen when we all went blackberry and raspberry picking!

    Blessings & Aloha!

We have been out of town, so am just catching up with my thank you visits (I didnt even get my “one post a week” post up this week)! Thank you so, so much for stopping by my place last week! Although I may not be as limber or quick as when I was a kid, I look to forward to playing some of these games with future grandchildren. & I remember playing Jacks for long periods of time! Yes, I remember having a special bag for my jacks :o)

  21. Hi Pat, I read this whole post and kept scratching my head. And then I read it again.

And then I realized the title was Lazy DAYS and not Lazy DOGS!

Dogs or Days it was still a lovely post.

    Thanks for sharing it.

    A+
