Two More Blocks...

...And one of them is really kind of between non-related quilting commitments, progress has been made on two more Beyond The Cherry Tree blocks.
This first one has got to be a very strange I worked on it, I kept wondering what the quilter was thinking about. Where did she get the design? Was it her own creation or something she saw and laid out from memory?

Well, nevertheless, I will honor her and stay close to the original design...but I just had to attach all the stems...unlike the 1850's block where flowers were floating off into space.

The 2nd block is pretty straight forward though the little hills and valleys were somewhat tedious.

Now they are safely stored away with the other completed blocks and I can begin to see a little light at the end of that proverbial tunnel...only 5 more to go and then the long journey around the borders.

It has been somewhat quiet in our neck of the woods. Ever since an October doctor's appointment where words like Body Mass Index, more exercise needed, diet changes, etc. were thrown at me & a very discouraging weigh in on the clinic scale...well, let's just say the treadmill in the basement has renewed its acquaintance with me. The goal? Three miles each day...up to 2 now and there is no longer a little secret stash of chocolate to feast upon.

Wish me luck! I am going to need it...the other night, after our power had been off most of the day...well...confession time...I had a Haagen-Dazs melt down & polished off about a cup of refrozen butter pecan - I'm bad :o(

Have a good week and hope you have more self control than I...

  1. Lovely blocks. The star like flower in the first block appeals to me.
You're not bad! It's so hard to avoid an occasional treat. Just start anew! I'm telling myself this, too. Carbs are my downfall and the one thing I really need to avoid.

  2. You're really chugging along with those blocks!
Don't be too hard on yourself about that ice cream. My doctor says that it's important to have a treat - just to make sure that it's something I'm going to really enjoy!

  3. Pat, I like your blocks, even the quirky one! Just wish my applique skills were as good as yours. I've been following a new diet which you might be interested in. I've already lost 4kgs in a short time without the cravings or hunger. Let me know if you want to know more! Ros x

  4. Your blocks are beautiful. Yes, the layout of the first block is a little strange but it works.
Good luck with your new endeavor. It can be hard to lose weight but you can do it. I just try not to keep tempting food in the house. It works for me. Sometimes I have a craving and that is when I make a trip to the store but because I have to do that it doesn't happen often. Too much work. lol
    You can do it.

  5. You are so forgiven with total understanding and compassion - I prefer to eat sparingly rather than cut out my food indulgencies. Every two weeks I break for ice cream - just because I can. Love your cherry tree blocks. Judy C

  6. Your blocks are very lovely! I go to the gym so that I can eat cake - but the relationship between the two gets more vexed as I get older.

    Pomona x

  7. The blocks are lovely!

Hey, keep up the good work, and don't worry about a little indulgence now and again!

  8. Wow. Love the blocks! They are coming along brilliantly.

    And the BMI.

SO not a fan of those words from any medical professional.

    You can do it!

Thanks for linking up to Alphabe-Thursday's letter "B".

    This was a fun stop.

Your comments are like the chocolate chips in cookies...they make my day!
