Empty spools...

....well - one empty spool...the quilting on my Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt is slowly progressing. Just finished using a spool of #16 J & P Coats hand quilting thread. How old is that ??? Don't think they have that color anymore or at least that number. Not too worry though as I have 1 more matching spool and with the quilt well over half way finished, there should be enough. I even thought to bring it quilting continues as we head homeward...

Can you believe it is September all ready? There are touches of gold along the Alaska Highway and our fleece jackets felt cosy as we made our way through the Muncho Lake and Toad River area yesterday...

One of my favorite areas - the turquoise blue waters of the Toad River

Hope you are enjoying this long holiday weekend.

August thoughts from Alaska....

Hi everyone - still enjoying the beauty and wonder of the 49th state. Just a brief posting as wi-fi is so iffy.

Wanted to share a very fun evening my daughter-in-law, Jena and I had last Saturday at the home of Alaska Art Experience.

Jena is 2nd from the left and I am 2nd from the right..

A group of us learned how to paint on silk scarves - Gina, our instructor, is an artist of many talents and loves to use silk as one of her mediums. We painted creekside with the sound of rushing water as our music. A perfect Alaskan friends, a lovely meal and a unique memory to bring home.

Our return journey begins next week - wish we could stay longer...
