...while on the road...how many of you have caught the Pyramid fever? There are hundreds, if not thousands of little triangles popping up all over quilting blogland! I first saw these little gems over at Taryn's blog - Repro Quilt Lover. She has some really good tips to get you started..plus some nice background info about how this got started.
Linda Collins of Quilts In The Barn fame has inspired so many quilters to join in to make our own unique version of the antique quilt.
You will need to get your hands on Quiltmania #94 which has the pattern. Also run, do not walk, to order a set of the plastic templates and choose your fabrics!
Here is what my plan is - I just happened to have #94 on my shelf AND the fabrics in my stash except for the yardage needed to do the larger alternate triangles. Off to the LQS I went! I ordered my templates from The Quilt Merchant in Illinois. You can find them at Paper Pieces and Homestead Hearth too if you live in the US. Be sure to request being added to the fast growing Facebook group too!
Oh my gosh - another project...I must be nuts - but who could resist this?? And here I am packing for a long trip...more about that soon...
Pat
Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteWho knows, maybe all quilters are a little nuts. But I know that right now I am going to have to resist or I will be way beyond nuts. : )
Now, about this long trip....?
Your are right----you are nuts but then we all are. Your fabric choices are very perfect for a reproduction quilt. This will be a wonderful quilt and you will have a lot of fun making it!
ReplyDeletePat.......if this makes you a little nuts, then we must all be a little nuts; otherwise, we wouldn't be true quilters. I think this project is going to be beautiful once done. Can't wait to see your progress. Since you will be traveling, will you be doing it by hand?
ReplyDeleteJust one nut saying hi to another. I haven't actually started my pyramids yet, but I've got all my stuff ready. That's a big step.
ReplyDeleteI've got a triangle project in my mind, so I"m going to stick to my original plan. It's EPP so it will be my traveling project, I just need to make some travel plans.:-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous quilt project and I love your wonderful fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to following your progress on this pyramid quilt!
Yes, I think we are a little nuts! I saw your post and had to see if I had issue 94! I didn't! Oh no! I made a order for both the templates and magazine from Paper Pieces. I love the fabrics you have chosen! Are you going to hand or machine piece?
