Trunk show and workshop with Dawn - Part 2

So glad you have come back to see more lovelies from Dawn's Trunk Show - Collector With A Needle. Our quilt guild members really enjoyed seeing these wonderful quilts.

Check out this perfect stripe border fabric!

The very special Noah and Matilda...the original..(and please forgive me for that chair in the way! )

Original inkings - 1854...

And Dawn's stunning version....

This is a different, more modern interpretation of Catherine's Garden shown in Part 1 ....more lovely golden yellow....

And a soft, pastel Kaffe Fassett fabric frames this sweet version.

As you can see, Dawn has taken her love of antique quilts, choosing the reproduction fabrics we are so fortunate to have available, to recreate gorgeous examples of the original and also interpreting the same quilts in today's modern upbeat brights or pastels.

The following day, 20 of us joined Dawn in her Applique workshop...whether we were beginners or familiar with the backbasting technique of applique, we enjoyed stitching together to create this block from the Noah and Matilda quilt.

I used reproduction fabrics and want to finish it off with a little pieced border to make a mini quilt.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Pat

Dawn's quilts are so beautiful! The back-basting technique intrigues me. Would love to give it a try someday. Love your little applique block :)

Just beautiful. Almost makes me want to make another Baltimore album quilt. I love your little applique block and think it will make an adorable "little" quilt. You're so fortunate to have such good speakers at your guild. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful quilts... always amazes me how just a change of fabrics can influence the look of a quilt. I too just love your workshop block. What a great idea to turn it into a little quilt.

How fun to be able to see the original antique quilt and then a modern day interpretation. Your block will be sweet as a little quilt. What a wonderful opportunity to learn from Dawn

Thank you so much for inviting me to visit your guild! How lucky you are to have an active, involved and enthusiastic 'family' of quilters to meet with. The honor was all mine and I treasure the time.
I'm looking forward to seeing some finished projects.
Regards,
Dawn
